hup! just got even faster and easier
The hup! building system from Ultraframe has been given the seal of approval by Assent and JHAI, giving hup! users a fast and simple route to Building Regulation compliance. The two key industry bodies have each thoroughly assessed the revolutionary system, offering assurance to builders and installers that hup! is entirely compliant.
hup! users can choose to work with either industry body to carry out their Building Regulation approvals as a simple alternative to working with their Local Authority. Using Assent or JHAI means that hup! builders can be clear on what is required of them at every stage of the Building Approval process, so there are no surprises in terms of extra work required.
Explaining more about the new Assent and JHAI approvals on hup!, Ultraframe Marketing Director, Alex Hewitt, said: “It’s fantastic news for hup! users that the system has been approved by both Assent and JHAI for hassle-free Building Regulations. Both providers are highly experienced and handle thousands of Building Regulation applications each year to make life easier for builders and installers. The hup! system is all about ease – ease of ordering, ease of build and now ease of project management. Building Regulation requirements differ by project type, and so to offer transparency to hup! builders we have agreed procedures and fees with both Assent and JHAI for various types of hup! build. The hup! build types included under the approvals schemes with Assent and JHAI include replacement roofs, traditional extensions with any Ultraframe roof, hup! conservatory transformations, and entire hup! extensions.

This enables hup! installers to understand the inspection requirements at various stages of different build types and means that there will be a consistent approach across building inspectors, so builders know what to expect. It’s also helpful for hup! builders to know fixed prices for each project type upfront when they are quoting – especially conservatory transformations which are priced cost effectively to keep costs low on these popular projects when the existing base is used. For example, Building Regulation Approval when transforming a conservatory on an existing base into an extension can cost as little as £450.”
Ultraframe has agreed specific procedures and prices for hup! when used for different types of builds, ensuring pricing reassurance and consistency for builders. For example, a replacement roof project will require one inspection, while a hup! extension will require three and will be priced higher than the replacement roof project. Builders can simply reference the manual for each company to check on the number of inspections and the associated cost for the various types of hup! build. The hup! system can be used with Ultraframe’s Glass Roof, Livinroof, Ultraroof or Flat Roof for ultimate design flexibility.
Assent is a Corporate Building Control Approved Inspector that works to industry codes of conduct and Building Control performance standards, working hand-in-hand with its clients to add value to the Building Control process and make sure projects run as efficiently and effectively as possible. Highly qualified Assent Building Control surveyors are located throughout the country with expertise and experience across the entire building sector.
JHAI is an Approved Inspector, licensed by the Government via the Construction Industry Council. The company provides Building Control for all types of building projects and carried out over 17,000 approvals in 2022. JHAI aims to make projects easier whilst saving money for the builder or installer and covers all of England and Wales.
To attain a Building Control certificate in a hassle-free way hup! builders simply notify Assent or JHAI about an intended project with copies of the plans. JHAI or Assent would then notify the relevant Local Authority and carry out any necessary inspections before issuing the Building Control final certificate. This process is fast and hassle free for the installer as Assent and JHAI have fully assessed and approved the hup! system and so there is no need for builders to source technical documentation etc. as they would when attaining a certificate through Building Control. There is often a requirement for additional information when going via the Building Control route, adding considerable time to each project.
