September News 2014Runners from Ultraframe – the leading designer and manufacturer of conservatory roofing systems, based in Clitheroe, have been out in force raising money for both local and national charities.

Michael Preston raised more than £600 for Pendleside Hospice by taking part in this year’s Great North Run. The Grace family raised £750 and Chad Mayoh and his team collected nearly a thousand pounds.

Michael ran the race, which begins in Newcastle and ends in South Shields, with his wife Robin and his brother Steven. He completed the course in just two and a half-hours.

He said: “It’s a tough race but luckily it was not too hot. It really is a great atmosphere. Just to be part of it is so special. Everyone is so friendly and the team at Ultraframe have been so supportive and generous, I was really made up that they all supported me.”

Ultraframe sponsored Michael to run the race and provided his customised running T-shirt.

Michael has worked in the Distribution department at Ultraframe, the leading designer and manufacturer of conservatory roofing systems, for two years. He chose the hospice as his charity to thank them for looking after his father who died earlier this year.

He said: “My father stayed at the hospice a few times before he died and really enjoyed going there. It is a wonderful place and I wanted to raise some money for them as a way of saying thank you.”

Ultraframe Structural Engineer, Ian Grace, also made it a family day out and raised money for two charities. He ran with his daughter Amy and his wife Pauline to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Trust while his son, Greg, ran for the NSPCC. So far the family has raised more than £750 for their efforts.

Chad Mayoh from the Ultraframe Marketing department managed to raise £1000 for Cancer Research. He said: “We had a great day but we don’t have any photographs of our achievement – we were just so delighted to make it over the finishing line that we forgot!”
