A team of 24 staff from Ultraframe have completed the gruelling Tough Mudder course in Yorkshire to raise money for mental health charity Mind.
The 5k event which includes 13 demanding obstacles through mud baths, iced water and purpose-built swamps complete with electric shocks, requires teamwork, bravery, agility and extreme determination to complete. Climbing sheer walls, crossing water on thin ropes and crawling through muddy water inside a cage are all par for the course.
Commenting on the achievement of the team, Greg Hawksworth, Head of Glass Roof & Glazing Product Development, who also took part in the event, said: “Tough Mudder is a notoriously extreme event and we all felt very proud to conquer it. While we had a fantastic time doing it with only a few minor injuries along the way, there was a very serious element to the event, with fundraising being directed to Mind - a charity which is very close to the heart of one of our team here at Ultraframe. We already know what a strong team we have and this event was the perfect demonstration of that, with people from every department working together to drag each other to the end of the course in very wet and muddy conditions.”
Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem - campaigning to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. With the support of Prince William the charity has been developing the Heads Together Workplace Wellbeing Programme, which will provide support for people in the workplace; including colleagues developing skills to recognise the signs and learning how to provide support for their colleagues at work.
