The latest Pilkington consumer TV campaign is now on air. The humorous adverts have recently been filmed in sunny South Africa and feature a striking Ultraframe-roofed conservatory glazed with Pilkington Activ™ Blue – also known to Ultraframe customers as Conservaglass Subtle Blue.

Following on from the success of the 2006 TV campaign, Pilkington were keen to further raise consumer awareness and desire for their Activ glass and when the script for the new commercials demanded a stunning conservatory which needed to be supplied within two weeks, ready to be shipped to South Africa, there was no other choice of manufacturer than Ultraframe. As market leaders in their respective fields, the affinity between the two brands is ideal, plus structurally the Ultraframe Classic roof is perfect when taking into account the additional weight of sealed units.

Mark Hanson, Marketing Manager at Ultraframe commented: “Ultraframe were thrilled to be approached by Pilkington to work with them on this exciting project. The completed conservatory looked absolutely stunning and of course, the Ultraframe Classic system is ideal for using with self-cleaning glass, as our glazing system is fully compatible with Pilkington Activ™. The ads are sure to reap rewards for Ultraframe customers as more and more consumers realise the benefits of installing high performance glass into their conservatory.”

The commercials will appear nationally on satellite (freeview & digital) and terrestrial channels, with the first commercial having gone on air in mid February running until April 15th, and will be supported by online activity and a high profile consumer and trade PR campaign by Pilkington in both the main consumer home interest magazines plus trade journals.

Julia Berkin, Marketing Communications Manager at Pilkington commented: “When filming our 2007 TV adverts for Activ, Ultraframe was the natural choice to supply a stylish conservatory, with less than two weeks notice! The completed set looked beautiful and was a perfect example of how a glass roof can enhance the aesthetics of a conservatory. We are confident that glass sales should soar after this next wave of activity.”

Conservaglass Subtle Blue 24mm units have an attractive blue tint, which reduces the sun’s glare, whilst also allowing sufficient light to pass through it. It reflects nearly two thirds of solar energy, which prevents solar heat build up and helps to maintain a cooler and more comfortable internal conservatory environment. Subtle Blue (and Neutral Clear, also available in the Conservaglass range), available with Ultraframe’s popular Classic range of roofs, offer extremely low ‘U’ values of just 1.1, which ensures that warmth from heating appliances is retained in the Winter months.

Mark Hanson concluded: “All in all, this is sure to be a great campaign which should encourage more consumers to request high performance glass for their conservatories. The adverts created by Pilkington convey the important technical product messages in a way that is simple to understand and the humorous nature of the ads makes them extremely memorable. We are thrilled to have collaborated with Pilkingtons on this project.”
