The doors to the 2006 Glassex Conservatory Design Competition have, in spirit, been thrown open to everyone in the industry that not only wants to show the world their skills, but prove they are, quite simply, the very best conservatory designer around.

Following this year’s highly successful Conservatory Design Competition, Ultraframe is once again supporting the event, offering a bumper prize of £5,000-worth of state of the art specialist conservatory IT equipment, to be presented to the ultimate winner in March during Glassex.

The prize, which is designed to provide a powerful and useful reward for the efforts made by the winner, includes a fully specified laptop which is loaded with the latest roof configuration package from RoofWright. The RoofWright Silver package will create a stylish 3D conservatory design and calculate the conservatory price in seconds and will export the designs to CAD software, run a checklist to avoid omissions and animate the sales presentation.

The awards will be judged in the same four categories as previously: Small Conventional, Large Conventional, Innovative Design and Large Span (portal), but an overall ‘Best in Show’ winner will also be announced. This overall winner will receive the £5000 prize to assist them in developing their business further.

The Glassex and Ultraframe partnership demonstrates a major investment in promoting excellence in the industry. Ultraframe has committed to raising the profile of the competition next year with a new ‘Best in Show’ award in addition to the prize package and a stylish Gallery created at Glassex to allow visitors to fully appreciate the skills of the competitors.

The number of entries for the 2005 competition trebled as installers seized the opportunity to showcase their most impressive work and compete for the prestige of being a winner in this elite competition, and it is hoped that the snowball will grow still further as the event gathers pace for 2006.

Jim Hay, Managing Director of Emap Maclaren, said: “We are delighted to have such a prominent and appropriate sponsor as Ultraframe for the competition; their prize for the overall winner is well thought out and will add tangible value to the winner’s business. With Ultraframe we have a genuine desire to promote high standards of quality and innovation within the industry and reward and celebrate the work and talents of exceptional conservatory designers. The 2005 competition received a record number of entrants and the judges were highly impressed with the high standard of projects submitted. We encourage conservatory designers everywhere to accept the challenge demonstrate the level of skill that exists in this industry.”

Vanda Murray, Managing Director of Ultraframe, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring next year’s Conservatory Design Competition and to be given the opportunity to give something back to the industry. Ultraframe’s name is synonymous with highly innovative and technically superior products so a design competition with similar judging criteria fits perfectly with our core brand values. The competition is an incredibly positive initiative for the industry. It is an excellent measure of talent and the winning designs are truly inspiring.”
